Some Question/Feedback to the Task Builder Posted in 27th, 07/2008 09:47 by richard_stracke
Hi,

i try to work serious with the Task Builder.

I use Version 3.4.1 Enterprise (download newer Version don't work)

1. If i try "Execute Query" tasks with more than one step and set-statements the Export-Function (i tried html and MSExcel)
don't work. Is this correct or i do something wrong ?

2. A Task with a ExportMSExcel Function append the Data on a existing Excelfile. Is there a possibility to delete the Excel before?

3. Is there a possibility to name the TargetFilename (Export MSExel)
more dynamically for example the actual date as a part of the Filename? Specially for daily scedules Tasks a useful feature.

regards,

Richard

Actually it does not work that way. Only one query at a time can be exported to other format. On the other hand you can run multiple queries to prepare the data, but only the last query will be exported. To export multiple queries attach an export task to each one of them individually.

No, this is not implemented. But we can easily implement this feature in future versions. We'll add this to our TODO list.

Not possible. Sorry.

Quite a few things have being discussed with our users concerning the Task Builder. We have added to our TODO list the following features to be implemented in the future:

- Variables: this would allow the of use dynamic data and can be interchangeable between tasks. A variable may be dynamic or prompted to the user
- Javascript/VBScript: it would help to process data before import/export
- Conditions: it would enable the possibility to do something else when an error occurs. I.E.: If a query fails notify the administrator through email instead of exporting to Excel
- MSN Messages as a way to contact someone when a task is executed or an error occurs.
