Newbie question about connecting to FireBird |
Posted in 10th, 03/2005 05:02 by crorussell |
Hello,
I cannot connect to my localhost server.
What I have done so far:
Have downloaded Firebird to my local machine. Have the server running on my local machine in my tray.
Upon opening DBManager I click to add a new server. Then I setup the below:
1) I choose "FireBird" as my engine.
2) Accept "firebird@localhost" as my Name.
3) Hostname is "localhost".
4) Port is "0".
5) Userid is "sysdba"
6) Passwrod is "masterkey"
7) Role is blank.
8) Have browsed and selected the sample "Employee" database that comes with Firebird.
When I click "Test Connection" I get:
"Unable to complete network request to host "localhost". -Failed to establish connection. -unknown Win32 error 10022".
Being a complete newbie this to me is the simplest form of setting up a local engine.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi,
You may try using 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost. It looks like TCP/IP couldnt resolve the address "localhost".
